At the time I didn't know the quality of education that Firestone High afforded each of us. My travels and work first with American Indians here and then Indigenous Peoples around the world gave me a view of life so much different than the one I had at school; meeting traditional snake bite healers in Sri Lanka, midwives in Sierra Leone, Bushman on the Kalhari and so many more brilliant people that go invisible to most the world. Back at school I remember Senior week and the time we were supposed to wear the sweat shirt of the college we would be attending. Well worried about those who may not be going to college I stenciled a sweat shirt to say the Florence Crittenden Home for Unwed Mothers and was promptly sent to the Principal and then suspended. 47 years later still having the adventure a life time and so excited to see where it all began.
